Mark Borja Creative and Urban Graduates are collaborating on a progressive music video that focuses on the socio-political climate of racial inequality within sports and popular media.

The goal of the “Sportsman$hip” EP is to place the audience in the shoes of a black athlete and introduce them to a perspective unseen by the masses.

Artists Errick DeVan and Gritz Watson, depict the hopes, dreams, and hardships of being a black athlete in today’s world with an educated critique on social ills such as racism and social injustice.

Director Mark Borja and Writer Michael Naclerio have comprised “Sportsman$hip” into a three part video series that follows the development of a young black athlete growing up and becoming exposed to the over saturation of media in the world around him (such as in sports, films, music) in a simple and conceptual format of a music video. In order to convey the first part in this series, the project is in need of three actors between the ages 12-14 to provide an example of how media affects young and impressionable children in the midst of self discovery and consciousness of their place in the world.

To convey an educated critique on social ills, Mark, Michael, Errick and Gritz believe they require three actors of three different ethnicity; an African American protagonist and two additional children of either Caucasian/Hispanic/Asian descent. This reasoning is to emphasize the concept of social injustice and racial inequality to show the over saturation of media and how it can affect the young mind.

The goal is to illustrate the disparities in popular culture and shine light on our awareness within society.
